Entering the Air Force Academy in 1980 with the Zodiaco III course, Commander Fabio Consoli began his career as a military pilot on the SIAI SF260, performing his first solo flight in January 1981. He earned his wings as a military pilot at Sheppard (Texas) base as part of the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program, flying the T-37 and T-38.
 

After advanced training on the G-91T and TF-104G, he was assigned to the 28th “Streghe” Squadron of the 3rd Wing in Villafranca di Verona, flying the F/RF-104G and achieving combat readiness in reconnaissance and ground-attack roles.

Selected for the Experimental Flight Department, he attended the prestigious USAF Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base, where he qualified as a test pilot with Class 90B. Upon returning to Italy, he joined the Eurofighter program, performing the first flight of the Italian Typhoon prototype as a military pilot.
 

With the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he commanded the 14th Squadron of the 2nd Wing at Rivolto Air Base, participating in NATO operational missions over Bosnia-Herzegovina.

He was discharged in 1999 after logging over 2,500 flight hours on more than 50 types of aircraft, and continued his career with Alitalia, accumulating an additional 14,200 flight hours on the MD-80, Airbus A320 Family, and Boeing 777, until 2021.
 

Since 2022, he has been involved in general aviation and recreational sport flying. Since May 2023, he has collaborated with the Jonathan Foundation of Nervesa della Battaglia on test flights and flight demonstrations of the historic reproduction of the Ca.3, a three-engined bomber from World War I.
